Femme Fatale - Ebon Roses & Eternium Dreams

Two more pretties from Femme Fatale Cosmetics today.

Ebon Roses, shown here as one coat over Ulta3 Pink Peony, is full of quite a few shades of pink glitter, including rose, fuchsia, holo pink and ultra fine flecks.  There is also a light sprinkling of chocolate brown glitter.  This is of of those glitter polishes that can look quite different depending on what you layer it over.  Here over a bright pink, it really pulls out the pink tones.  But over rose and peach colours it brings out the golden rose and brown glitters.

Great glitter pay off in this polish, but it's not at all dry or difficult to apply.

Eternium Dreams is such a deep and dark interesting polish.  Eternium Dreams does have a blackened tinted base, but this time around I decided I wanted to layer it. Although, I really didn't know what to layer it over.  I didn't want to put it over black because then all the multiple shapes and sizes of black glitter would be lost, but I knew it needed some sort of dark base because of the iridescent green/blue colour shifting squares.  I ended up choosing RBL Orbis Non Sufficit - which is quickly becoming my go to dark green creme.

The base was just perfect, still dark and mysterious so iridescent squares and aqua micro glitters really pop, but light enough to show the black glitters.  This is one coat of Eternium Dreams with Seche Vite top coat.

Femme Fatale - Halloween Trio

I'm excited to show you three polishes today from Aussie indie brand Femme Fatale. These three polishes make up their Halloween trio, and each one is pretty stunning.

Tricky Treat is a tinted orange based with mainly orange hexes and bars.  It also has a scattering of pink hexes, holo pink hexes, red and purple squares, red hearts (there is one on my pinky) and a pretty fine copper shimmer.

This polish is packed with glitter, but it's not dry or too difficult to apply.  Because of the bar glitters you will need to wiggle the brush a bit and use a dabble method, but the effort is completely worth it.  Here I have layered one coat of Tricky Treat over a black base. Topped with glitter tamer and Seche Vite.

Sinister Calling is a gorgeous purple glitter polish in a purple jelly base.  This one is also packed full of glitters, and here is the full glitter description from the Femme Fatale site.  Holo purple shreds, navy blue shreds and hexes, holo silver bars and stars, colour-shifting shimmer (blue>purple), tiny deep blue glitter and various purple glitter in different shapes/sizes. WOW.

Because the base in this is well tinted, I was able to build up opacity at three coats.  This is three coats with Ulta3 non-chip and Seche Vite.  There are bar glitter in this one too, so you might need a little practice in getting them spread out, but they certainly remain smooth and flat, no curlies here.

Ghoulish Glee.  This one is my favourite of the bunch. I just love it. The base in this is tinted green, and would probably build up to opacity at three coats, but his time I decided to layer it.  

The glitter description from the FF website details this as: a complex glitter with many different types – holo gold bars, holo lime hexes, black squares, moss green hexes, light green hexes, green squares in metallic/matte, tiny neon yellow and chartreuse glitters – and more!

Here I'm wearing just one coat of Ghoulish Glee, layered over RBL Orbis Non Sufficit. Arrggghhh *wipes drool from corner of mouth* Topped with glitter tamer and Seche Vite. I'm sure you can see the bar glitters, so you know the deal with application, but again everything is perfectly flat.  

It's bright and shiny, and full of so many complementary glitters, it's dreamy!

Femme Fatale - Glistening Lodestone annd Shimmering Snowcap

I have two polishes from Aussie indie brand Femme Fatale to share today.

Glistening Lodestone is full of all sorts of glitters so I'm just going to grab their website description as it's much quicker than me trying to pick out everything I see.  Glistening Lodestone contains teal diamonds, holographic blue glitter in various sizes, green and purple squares, small orange glitter and blue flecks all in a dark navy blue jelly base.  

I used three coats here, mainly because I wore it on it's own and I needed to build up the dark navy jelly base.  If you layered over black or navy you would only need one coat. I used two coats of top coat, Glitter Tamer and Seche Vite - and the result was glassy smooth.

Absolutely beautiful polish, but sadly this is the polish I was wearing when I busted my nail, so I have sad (and ouchie) memories of wearing it.

Here is Shimmering Snowcap, which I wore exactly one week after busting my nail last week, so these are my one week grown out nubbins.

Shimmering Snowcap is just beautiful.  I reminds me of Lynnderella Love, Lace and Lilacs with the addition of the copper coloured iridescent squares.  At some angles the iridescent squares look transparent light blue, but when the light hits them you get to see the copper glow.  This is one dabbled coat over OPI Don't Pretzel my Buttons. This only has one layer of Seche Vite top coat applied, but I did add a layer of Ulta3 Non-chip after taking these photos and seeing it a little bumpy.

Indie Brand - Femme Fatale swatches & review

Guess what?  I have another indie brand review for you today.  Now that I've jumped head first into trying out various indie brands I have to say, I'm really loving it.  I love trying all these new polishes that are really challenging the commercial brands for our dollar.

Today's indie brand is Femme Fatale Cosmetics. FFC is an Australian based business that creates hand blended mineral based cosmetics.  They also have two ranges of nail polishes.  The Gemstone range and their Glitter range. 

First up I will show you all the gemstone lacquers.  All these swatches are one coat over a black base with no topcoat.  In the bottle, these polishes are all a milky white translucent colour and are packed with pigment.  You do need to be a little careful not to wipe the same spot too many times, otherwise it will start to streak the top coat, but overall these were an easy formula to work with.

 Skyfire - teal shifting to purple duo chrome topcoat.

Amberjewel - burnt orange and golden tones.

Dragonscale  - green shifting to a purply brown duo chrome topcoat.

Emberstone - rust red shifting of golden yellow duo chrome topcoat.

Lightseye - antique gold topcoat.

Seaspray - metallic light green shifting to violet blue duo chrome topcoat.

Shadowsong - rich purple with red undertones topcoat.

Stormsteel - cornflower blue shifting to lavender purple duo chrome topcoat.

The Gemstone lacquers are available in both 5ml and 13ml bottles for $3.75 and $9.75 respectively.

Next up are the glitter polishes, and there are currently three of these (but more being created in the labs I am told).

Quivering Heart - This is two layers over a single layer of Ulta 3 Brandy Wine.  This polish has a burgundy base and strong shimmer that shifts from pinky red to gold (which can been seen on the macro shot).  There are three sizes of red hexes, small black hexes and black squares.  There are also some black hearts in the bottle but I wasn't able to get any on my nails. Even though this polish had quite a bit of glitter, it was very smooth, and these photos are without top coat!

Stars Lament - is a black jelly polish with two sizes of holographic glitter.  Photographing holo glitter is such a pain in the butt. I usually like to photograph glitter polishes in the shade because I'm able to see the glitter pieces better, but my shade pictures of this polish did not do it justice.

It took three coats to fully build up the black jelly base, and it felt like the jelly consistency was pretty much spot on.  If its too opaque it drowns out the glitter, and if it's too jelly like then you can't get it opaque.  Just like Goldilocks, this was just right! This too was very smooth, although I did put on Seche Vite as I wore this as a full mani.

A tisket a tasket - is a blend of small light minty green glitters, some aqua squares and pale pink hexes, all in a milky base with a shimmery light green glow.  This is three thin coats with Seche Vite top coat.

All three glitter polishes were really easy to apply.  They were not thick and gluggy and the glitters applied smoothly to the nail.  Based on the gorgeous bottle shape - which is like the Zoya bottles, I can tell these are supplied by Beauty World - my No 1 favourite nail polish supplies company.  The suspension base would also be from Beauty World, which in my opinion, is also the best lacquer base (not just because it's the only one us Aussies can get, but because it is smooth, glossy and perfect)

The Femme Fatale glitter polishes are available in both 5ml and 13ml bottles for $4.00 and $10.50 respectively. 

One thing that did strike me when I first received my package was that the appearance of the bottles and labeling was very professional.  The mini bottles have small printed white labels with the polish name and list of ingredients.  The larger glitter bottles have round black Femme Fatale labels on the front and hand written names on the bottom.  All bottles were wrapped in bubble wrap and then placed into black organza drawstring bags.

At this stage, Femme Fatale Cosmetics only ships nail lacquers to Australia due to dangerous good restrictions.
