Smitten Polish - The Holly and the Ivy & Adeste Fedelis

I received these two gorgeous Smitten Polishes as part of my package from my Secret Santa.

The Holly and the Ivy - white jelly base with bright red and green matte hexes in two sizes.  This is three coats with top coat.

Adeste Fedelis - I loved the look of this polish in the bottle pictures I saw but I wasn't quite prepared for how much I would love it when I put it on my nails.  It has a slightly pink toned white jelly base with rose pink and  pale green large hexes and small copper coloured hexes.  After wearing the rich golden hues of golden eye, this was such a beautiful palette cleansing glitter.  Who would have thought there could be such a thing as a palette cleansing glitter.

The Smitten Polish Etsy site is closed for the holidays, and I have no idea if she will still be selling these two beautiful holiday shades.  I certainly hope so, especially with Adeste Fedelis, because it doesn't look like a holiday polish.

Smitten Polish - I Want It Now

Check out this baby!! Smitten Polish - I Want It Now, and let me tell you, you're gonna want it now! This polish is part of the Smitten Polish Confection Collection at it is in stock right now on Llarowe.

This polish is so much better in real life than in photos.  It is made up of all fine glitters in a green jelly base.  The glitters primarily in green holo and turquoise holo, but it also has a nice serving of black glitter that darkens up the polish.   Its like a greener, richer and glitterier (that so it a word!) version of China Glaze Atlantis.

Cause it's all fine glitter, it does dry to a gritty finish, and if you want all the glitter to really sparkle you need to get it nice and glassy smooth.  I'm wearing a PVA glue base, three coats of I Want It Now, a layer of Ulta3 non-chip and Seche Vite top coat.  It applied nicely and wore well, and then peeled off perfectly in the shower when I was ready to remove it for my next mani.

The photos taken in the shade show the polish a little washed out, whereas the photos with artificial light are closer to the real green shade of this polish.

Like I said earlier, Smitten Polishes are available from Shop Llarowe, and many shades are in stock right now. And just as a quick reminder, here are the other polishes from the Confection Collection that I have shown previously

Smitten Polish - Glass Elevator

I can't stay for chit chat tonight sorry, I have a stack of papers I must read before work tomorrow.  Damn you paying job!

Here is another Smitten Polish from the Confection Collection. This is Glass Elevator.  I wasn't sure if I was really going to love this polish, until I put it on. This one was so much better on the nail than in the bottle.

Glass Elevator has aqua and light blue micro glitters and iridescent aqua hexes in a very pale milky aqua base.  Application was really good considering it was a white milky polish, but I did use three coats for this mani.  It also dried very smooth and I only put on one coat of Seche Vite top coat.

Do you remember where you can grab Smitten polishes?  I'll give you the links anyway.

Smitten Polish - Pure Imagination

Here is Smitten Polish Pure Imagination that I wore earlier this week.  Pure Imagination is a aqua leaning blue that is along the same lines at the purple polish from this collection, You're Turning Violet, Violet.  This polish has blue and silver fine holo glitter in a tinted blue base.  There is plenty of glitter in the bottle, but not so much that the polish is dry and hard to apply.  In fact the polish was super easy to apply and I didn't need to do any clean up.

I did three coats for full opacity on all fingers, except my ring finger, which I did two.  I did two cause I knew I was going to add some feature holographic hexes to that nail. I loved the holo hex feature nail, it looked very scale like and the most mermaidy I've ever felt.  The below photos are in overcast natural light.

In an attempt to capture the awesome holoness of both Pure Imagination and of the blue holo hexes, I took some photos under the bathroom light.

The placement of my hexes is a little wobbly, especially in a macro shot. But it was my first attempt at this sort of design and I will only get better with practice.

Smitten Polish - Confection

I have another Smitten Polish for you today.  This is Confection, which has different sized and shaped glitter in blue, green, pink, purple and yellow - although my bottle definitely has a predominant blue feel to it.  The glitters are suspended in a milky white base and I'm showing three coats on its own in these photos.

For a white polish this applied really well and I had no issues at all with application.  It also dried relatively smoothly and I only put on one coat of Seche Vite quick dry to finish it off.

It's amazing how two polishes that are basically milk white bases with multi-coloured glitter can look completely different.  The other polish I'm talking about is Gloss n Sparkles Unicorn Droppings.   I never thought I would need two milky whites with glitters, but the two polishes are so different and I love them both.

Smitten Polishes are available on her Etsy site, and will soon be available from Llarowe.

Smitten polish - You're Turning Violet, Violet

Purple lovers, grab your bibs and set your mouths to drool.  Today's beauty is You're Turning Violet, Violet from the recent Confection Collection by Smitten Polish.  The lovely Noelie from Noelie's Nails has created this line and if you don't follow her blog your should, because she has the most stunning nails that are always perfectly painted.  Now, let's get onto this polish.

Firstly, holo glitters, why are you such a PITA to photograph?  I like taking photos of glitters in the shade, or preferably on an overcast day, because that way the glitters don't reflect to much light and you see the polish better.  But with holo glitters it means they look so one dimensional and you don't see any of their multi-shifting colours. Damn you!

You're Turning Violet, Violet has different sizes and shades of purple and blue holographic glitters, all in a fantastic purple jelly base.  I applied three coats on it's own, cause I wanted it to look exactly like the amazingness that is in the bottle.  The formula was very easy to work with and I didn't require any clean up for these photos. I also applied this over a PVC glue peel off base coat, so I know removed will be easy peasy too!  This did dry rough and I put on two coats of Ulta 3 Non chip and a coat of Seche Vite to make sure it was glassy smooth. Even with 7 coats in total, this never felt too thick and I had no shrinkage, I just felt like my nails were bullet proof.

In an effort to capture the sparkly goodness, I took these photos under the bathroom light.  The purple jelly base appears darker, but you can start to appreciate the multicoloured sparkles in the polish.

The polish feels like a purple version of China Glaze Atlantis, except with different size glitters. A complete stunner!
