Lynnderella - Gotta Love Brains

First up, a reminder to anyone still wanting to enter my Lynnderella Nail Art Challenge Giveaway.  I've received a lot more entries over the last few days, but there is still plenty of time to paint your nails people!

You have until midnight this Sunday!  For the record ladies, there are 17 Aussie entries and 18 International entries. Probably your best ever odds to win Lynnderella's I would think!  I'm so impressed with everyone's creativity.  YOU GIRLS ARE AWESOME!

Ok, moving on. This is Lynnderella Gotta Love Brains from her Early Halloween collection in 2011.  This sort of nail polish was a real trend last year. That is, glitter within a milky base.  I think I first saw it with Deborah Lippmann's polishes and then there were all sorts of frankeners and indie brands making their own versions, then some of the big commercial brands jumped on board.  In the past, glitters were always in a clear base, or a jelly tint, never a milky base.

To be honest, I wasn't really convinced I liked the look, and for that reason, this polish (together with Lynnderella's Matter of the Heart) were the first two glitter in milky base polishes I owned.

I think the look is very interesting. Interesting in a nice way, not in the way when you bite into a gross bit of food and say 'interesting'.  I like that the glitter pieces are toned down and not sparkly.  It means you can wear glitter and not bling out to the max.

The colour of this is also so interesting.  I struggled finding undies for it, and ended up using a pigeon blue magnetic polish because it was the right base colour.  This was two coats of Lynnderella Gotta Love Brains over one coat of pigeon blue magnetic.  Topped with Ulta3 non-chip and Seche Vite.

I'm bummed that Lynnderella closed her blog.  I visited it every day when I did my blog posts to reference her description of what was in these polishes.  Oh well, readers, your just gonna have to use your eyes now.

Finally, I had been nursing a broken corner on my index finger and today when I was filing my nails down a bit it totally came off.  So I continued filing down and my nails are nearly nubbins.  But because it was only the corner it has totally screwed with the shape of my nail. That side of my nail looks really oval now, which I don't like.  But I can't bring myself to file the other side to even it up.  Stay tuned for my lopsided index finger :)
